Nissan Leaf e+ N-Connecta Review
If you’re on the hunt for a practical, easy-to-drive, and environmentally friendly car, then Nissan’s latest version of the famous Leaf model could be your answer! Offering more driving technology to ‘sharpen your senses’, plenty of space and practicality, and a more powerful electric motor, the Leaf e+ N-Connecta is a real upgrade from the standard model, and we’re on hand to find out more.
What does it look like?
The Leaf’s exterior design stands out with its sharp, aerodynamic lines that create a modern appearance to look as advanced as the technology that sits inside. To add to its modern look is the car’s floating roof design and signature V-Motion grille, which twinned with the sculpted bonnet and low stance of the vehicle, come together to look slick and dynamic.
Eco-conscious drivers will also be pleased to hear that the Leaf e+ N-Connecta features a range of sustainable materials such as recycled plastics and bio-based resigns to form its exterior and interior, making the car even more of a sustainable choice.
The Nissan Leaf e+ N-Connecta boasts an interior that offers both comfort and technology, with plenty of practicality, and a premium feel too. Its premium feel is highlighted by the soft-touch materials, and Bose premium sound system that offers an immersive audio experience. The Leaf’s LED ambient lighting also adds a further touch of elegance to the overall feel of the car. And whilst the leaf’s sustainable design and performance don’t contribute to global warming, it does warm you up with its effective Heat Pack! Its heated seats and steering wheel are instant and really contribute to passenger comfort.
How practical is the Nissan Leaf?
To match its impressive design is the Leaf e+ N-Connecta’s space and practicality, especially the cabin space which is impressive for a car that falls into the Hatchback bracket. Its 435L boot space offers all the room you need for storage, making the car ideal for errands around the town or long journeys with the family, this space is made even more impressive by rear seats that fold almost completely flat. The driver's seat is fully adjustable, while the rear seats offer ample legroom and headroom for passengers.
Technology and Driver Assists
It’s the Leaf's impressive technology and driver assists that really highlight the difference between the e+ N-Connecta and the standard Leaf mode. The car features a seven-inch touchscreen display that houses the infotainment system which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, satellite navigation, and a 360-degree camera. Adding to this is the NissanConnect Services App which gives drivers access to multiple car features from their phone, such as air-con and heating, heated seats, updates on the range and current charging status, and plenty more!
The tech list doesn’t end there, as the range of driver assists really does impress. The Leaf e+ N-Connecta comes with ProPILOT; Nissan's semi-autonomous driving system which controls the car's speed, steering, parking, and braking in certain situations such as on the motorway or in heavy traffic. The car also comes with a range of other safety features such as lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera, making the Leaf a safe and practical choice for families.
Another impressive driving feature is the Nissan E-Pedal which allows drivers to operate the vehicle with just one foot on one pedal. Push the e-pedal down for instant torque, and simply ease off the pedal to slow down, the braking pedal is still there if you want to take more control. To top this impressive feature off is the automatic handbrake which will hold the car still on the steepest of hills.
Nissan Leaf range and performance
When it comes to range and performance, the all-electric Leaf e+ N-Connecta has really stepped up with its 59kWh battery that offers a range of up to 239 miles on a single charge; a significant improvement over the standard Leaf's range of 168 miles. This range is achieved thanks to the larger battery and more efficient electric motor. The Leaf also features a rapid charging system that can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in around 40 minutes, making it a practical option for longer journeys.
In terms of performance, the e+ N-Connecta features a more powerful electric motor, which produces 214 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a 0-60 mph time of around 6.5 seconds. And as expected with all-electric cars, the Leaf’s impressive acceleration is smooth and seamless. The car's handling is also impressive with responsive steering and a low center of gravity, which makes it feel stable and composed on the road.
Overall, the Nissan Leaf e+ Connecta impresses with its long list of technology and driver assists, fantastic range, and fast charging, plus a design that will catch the eye. And with plenty of space and practicality to add to this, the Leaf really is ideal for anyone looking for a sustainable and effortless family car.
