Our most popular car colours of 2024
As we come to the end of the year, we've been looking back at the cars we've sold to find the most popular car colours, and explored what your car colour might say about you.
When it comes to buying your next used car, there are so many features, specs and figures to consider... But let's be honest, the car colour is a massive factor! In fact, it's reported that 85% of car buyers admit that car colour plays a considerable factor in their decision to purchase a vehicle.
At Tangelo, we've been looking back at the cars we've sold so far in 2024, crunched the numbers, and found the most popular colours sold across the year. In fact, we've even had a look at what your car colour may say about you:
1. Grey
Our top selling car colour in 2024 so far for the fourth year running was grey! 22.4% of cars sold in 2024 have been grey, keeping the colour in the top spot.
Grey cars represent stability and reliability and grey car drivers are seen as safe and responsible when out on the road. They don’t like to be the centre of attention and like to stay out of the spotlight!
Joint second: White and Black
In joint second place is white and black, both at 19.2% of vehicles sold.
The popularity of the white car has grown quickly over the last 10 years. A white car offers a clean and fresh feel to the road and those who drive a white car ooze taste and elegance and present a young and modern image to others.
The colour black is associated with sophistication and luxury. Those who drive black cars tend to appreciate control, but often take a reserved approach. Black has always been a popular colour.
4. Blue
Cool, calm and collected is what we associate with a blue car driver, so there is no wonder the colour has been climbing the charts when it comes to popularity. A blue car appears confident and intelligent but doesn’t like too much fuss. The colour blue makes up 15.3% of all cars sold through Tangelo so far this year.
5. Silver
Maintaining fifth place is silver, the colour of 11.5% of cars sold.
Cool and in control – that’s what we think when we see a silver car on the road. Silver is often associated with futuristic products so silver car drivers may want to present themselves as innovative and modern.
6. Red
Attention-grabbing, ambitious and outgoing... red car drivers tend to have energetic personalities, often have a great sense of fun, and are likely to dream of owning a Ferrari!
7. Other
Making up the rest of the car colours Tangelo has sold this year include green, orange, yellow and bronze. They may not have been as popular but they certainly turn heads on the road.
